All BYU students, regardless of their academic majors must fulfill basic university requirements before graduation. These requirements are known as the .University Core. (also commonly referred to as the .New GE Program.) and apply to students who entered as new freshmen in Fall 2004. Students who entered BYU prior to Fall 2004 AND Transfer students have the option to fulfill the requirements of the General Education Program (Commonly referred to as the .Old GE Program) or, they may consider changing to the new University Core.
