University Advisement Center advisors can assist you in planning an appropriate schedule that reflects where you are in the major decision-making process. If you are still in the process of deciding upon a major, our advisors can:

  • Help you understand or options pertaining to the University Core/General Education Requirements.
  • Help you interpret your AIM "Progress Report" in order to determine which G.E. and Religious Education requirements you have left to take.
  • Assist you in determining what transfer work (including concurrent enrollment credit) BYU has accepted and what GE requirements they might fulfill. Please note that the Transfer Evaluation Office and individual College Advisement Centers review your transfer work for acceptance.
  • Assist you in determining what GE requirements your AP and IB scores fulfill.
  • Review your schedule with you to determine the appropriateness and potential difficulty level of the classes you have selected.
  • Provide information about adding and dropping classes within the University's deadlines.
  • Assist you with the actual registration process. Since registration will be a regularly occurring event, our goal is to teach you how do use the materials and resources (including AIM) at your disposal rather than registering for you.

Although our advisors can review the basic requirements and pre-requisites for BYU majors with you, detailed questions should be directed to the appropriate College Advisement Center. Likewise, if you have declared or intend to declare a specific major your College Advisement Center will help you with course selection.
