eRecruiting
eRecruiting is the online registration system that BYU's Career Placement office uses to connect students looking for jobs and internships to companies interested in hiring BYU students. Using eRecruiting students can search job listings, apply for jobs, communicate with recruiters, and sign up for interviews with companies interviewing on campus. Registration only takes a few minutes and every BYU student is encouraged to register and upload a resume into eRecruiting.

These policies are posted on Route Y and must be read and agreed to before access to eRecruiting will be granted.
Cancellation of an On-Campus-Interview Policy
It is unacceptable to not show up for an interview. However, if it is necessary to cancel an on-campus interview, it must be done before the deadline established by the employer under the "No Cancellations" date section on each schedule posted on eRecruiting. We cannot cancel interview appointments after that time, except in extreme emergencies. A cancellation made after that time will be considered a "No Show". "No Shows" are not acceptable. Two "No Shows" within one academic year will result in the loss of interviewing privileges.
Interviewing Policies, Ethics, and Standards of Behavior
- Always conduct yourself professionally throughout the interview process
- Only schedule an employer interview when you have a sincere interest in the position available. Do not schedule an interview with an employer for the sole purpose of practicing your interviewing skills.
- Research employers before and after interviews so that you can make a knowledgeable, informed decision about your future employment. Use the internet, call the employer, and ask others.
- Honor all appointments and commitments you make with an employer. You should be punctual and appropriately dressed for all interviews. Letters of explanation and apology should be sent to employers when appointments are missed or commitments are broken.
- Once you accept a job offer you should not continue to interview with other employers.
- It is unethical to renege or refuse a job offer which you have previously accepted. If a change must be made, a detailed, written explanation must be submitted to the employer and to your advisor in the Career Placement office.
- Thank you letters to all employers are strongly recommended as a follow-up to each interview.
On Campus Interviews
The majority of on-campus interviews are conducted from September through April. Employers will post their company profiles and job vacancies on-line in eRecruiting. There are two kinds of interview schedules:
- PRE-SELECT: Employers select candidates before the interviewing date. The employer determines who will be interviewed from the application material submitted on-line on eRecruiting.
- OPEN SIGN-UP: Employers leave the schedule open to those who meet their application requirements, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students can schedule an interview as soon as their application material has been submitted.
Accepting Employment
Please notify Career Placement Services when you receive an offer and especially when you accept employment. This information is used for CPS statistics. We are very interested in your success!
Information Session
Many employers hold information sessions in connection with their recruiting visits. We strongly encourage students to attend employer information sessions, especially students who have an interview scheduled with the prospective employer. Some information sessions are posted as mandatory-to-attend. These types of information sessions are determined by the employer. The dress for most sessions is business casual. Dates, times, and locations are listed on-line on eRecruiting.
You Represent More Than Yourself
Remember that you represent more than just yourself. Brigham Young University has a reputation for producing graduates with high ethical standards. The University expects you to do your part to help maintain that reputation with employers not only before you are hired, but also during your subsequent employment.
