Counseling and Career Center
How much do services cost? Personal counseling services at the CCC are free to full-time, daytime students (enrolled in at least 8.5 hours per semester). Personal counseling services are available to part-time students, spouses and their dependents at the Student Health Center. For those with the Student Health Plan, the co-payment is $10.00. For other patients you will be charged at a reduced rate of $15.00.
Are the counselors licensed? The majority of our senior staff are licensed psychologists. Currently we have 23 licensed psychologists on staff.
Do specific counselors specialize in particular problems? Most of our counselors are generalists trained to provide a variety of services. We do have counselors who have expertise in specific areas because of particular interests and/or training.
Can I come in even if I am not a student but my spouse is? You qualify for our services if your spouse is a full-time student and you and your spouse attend your sessions together as part of marital therapy.
As a bishop, spouse, parent, or faculty, can I talk to a counselor about a student's progress in therapy? As mental health professionals we are legally and ethically bound to keep information pertaining to people we see at our center confidential. This means that written, telephone, or personal inquiries about our clients will need written consent before we release information about our clients. The main reason for confidentiality is based upon the idea that effectiveness of the client/counselor relationship is built on the foundation of trust. Our aim is to encourage our clients to work with their ecclesiastical leaders in those areas where only those leaders can provide counsel and instruction. You can be assured that when consent has been given, we will communicate with you about relevant issues our student's are struggling with.
Who will I see for my first visit? As a first time visitor seeking services for personal, marital, or group counseling, you will be asked to complete paperwork which will take approximately 30 minutes. After this is completed, you will be scheduled to see an intake counselor for an initial 30 minute interview. A referral for services that will best meet your needs will be made through this counselor. For further information, see our section that details what to expect.
