Students have until the 40th day of a semester or 20th day of a term to complete the process to have the block removed. The block will remain active if not removed by the specified date and prevents students from registering for future semesters or terms. Students who return to Good Standing after grade processing will have their block removed and will be able to register for future classes. Students remaining on Academic Warning or moving to Academic Probation after grade processing will need to complete the Workbook and Faculty/Mentor Support form before being allowed to register.
- What GPA do I need to receive next semester to raise my cumulative GPA?
An advisor can help a student figure his or her GPA and tell the student what GPA is needed to raise the cumulative GPA. Remember, that during every enrollment, the minimum required GPA is 2.0 to avoid further academic action.
An online GPA Calculator is available to compute the GPA needed to raise a student.s cumulative GPA to at least 2.0.
Another GPA Calculator is available through AIM. Students must use their net id and password to access this site.
- Do Incompletes ("I" grades) affect a student.s academic standing?
An "I" grade is calculated as a neutral grade for the length of the time designated in the student.s contract with the instructor. Within that time period, the "I" grade will neither lower nor raise a student's GPA. Upon completion of the course work stipulated in the contract, the new grade will be used to "re-compute" a student.s academic standing. If a student does not does not complete the course work stipulated in the contract within the designated period, the "I" changes to an "IE," which has the same value as a failing grade. The student.s academic standing will be determined for that semester or term using the failing grade.
For more information about "I" grades, please refer to the web site available through the University Records Office or contact the Office at B-150 ASB.
